Surface of the sun

I’ve quite liked the adverts for the new BBC science series, Wonders of the Universe, especially the soundtrack. I realised after not too long that the music playing in the adverts is one of the main theme tunes from the Danny Boyle sci-fi movie, Sunshine, of which I am a fan. The track is called ‘Surface of the sun’ by John Murphy.

It won’t be for everyone but I really like it. It has a slightly transcendental element – a bit like the theme tune from Gladiator.

About Milo

I write about anything and everything which may include, but is not limited to: travel, photography, television, books, cinema, the arts and importantly - food and wine. And I’m desperately seeking Steven. Among other things.

Oh man I *LOVE* that movie. It’s so … haunting. It really stuck with me for a long time after I watched it. Sometimes the best scifi films are made by people who aren’t big scifi fans, and this was such a perfect example. It’s hard to believe the same guy who made Trainspotting made this.

The soundtrack is definitely one of the best things about the film.

That, of course, and Chris Evans. Even if he DIDN’T take his shirt off for this film … dammit :)

    It’s beautiful.

Haven’t seen the film but I do like the music – - and I’m really enjoying “Wonders of the Universe” too, even though it gives my brain a bit of a workout – physics doesn’t come naturally to me!
